Lil Jon (with Team Dynamite) | Live at Auckland Powerstation

The King of Crunk hit New Zealand for a bass dropping show at Auckland's Powerstation. Lil Jon set the scene, no holding back, with his hit-slamming DJ set, owning the stage while donned in Waikato Rugby colours. His brief New Zealand appearance was supported by local hip hop crew Team Dynamite.

Great North | North Shore, Auckland, New Zealand.

Take a local Alt folk/Country band and throw em out into some wild big city weather of a winter fast approaching our door-steps.

Avalanche City | We are for the wild places | Live at Mercury Theatre, Auckland.

After a quick venue change due to the public demand for more seats, New Zealand chart topper Dave Baxter of Avalanche City treated the ears of a packed out audience in the intimate confines of the 1910 Auckland central 'Mercury Theatre'. Supporting Avalanche City at all four NZ concert dates was another incredibly talented and iconic New Zealand musician, Benny Tipene.

Picture 1910 interior design at its peak elegance, a line of trees suspended form the ceiling and some heart-warming, trumped-accompanying,toe-tapping tunes to kick off the weekend.

Festival One 2015

Festival One is the think tank community of creatives who are all about good food, good music, and good community vibes. I teamed up with 5 other photographically nerdy human beings to capture all that went down.

HalfNoise is an American alternative rock musical project by Zac Farro, former drummer of Paramore. Originally based in Nashville, Tennessee, Farro fine tuned HalfNoise before heading off for New Zealand to project his sound on thousands of unsuspecting youth.

Despite destroying every crash symbol during HalfNoise's set, Zac successfully created a musical thirst amongst his new fans and in turn found creative freedom in the beauty of New Zealand. So much so, it convinced him (along with the support of some of NZ's finest producers) to stay here to record a full album, Volcano Crowe:

Phil van der Wel | Waikato, New Zealand.

Phil van der Wel is a beloved husband a caring father and a folk singer + songwriter. Owning that kind face with prolific hair growth that'd get re-pinned a million times if someone leaked a photo onto Pinterest. .

As a folk singer Phil's vocals are rough-hewn and all round depressing. Get comfortable in an arm chair, pour that scotch (hold the ice) and leave only a lamp on and the scene is set. He can often be found touring with Luke Thompson.

Check out Phil's EPs, I Am a-Roaming & Oh Canada:

Walton St Sessions | Round III

Im a huge sucker for an intimate winter acoustic showcase - for locals, run by locals. Walton St has firmly placed themselves on Te Awamutu's map and made themselves known as the best spread secret in the Waikato. The thing about Walton St that makes it so darn special, is how 60 bodies packs the place out. Which is in fact just perfect for that exclusive intimate feel. Not only have they generated a community culture centred on local (and the odd outta towner) music, but they also do a bloody great cup of coffee and eating their food leaves you feeling healthier.

Walton St Session is back for round III and features: Mali Mali + Jack Carty + Oh Mary (Joseph of Joseph & Maia + Luke Thompson + Antony) - with guest appearances from Phil van der Wel.

Katherine Parsons | Hamilton, New Zealand.

It started with a casual FB post of a video recording on a webcam calling for feedback and comments. Identifying a stylish and ever most sophisticated voice I dared to be arrogant enough to take on the webcam with my 5D. I threw my suggestion out there “you need a better video” – knowing, although amateur as I am to video production, that I was safe attempting to lay the beat-down on a webcam.

What ensured was a visit to a Green House, a failed attempt of a mock-dolly, a free performance for some visiting tourists and well the rest is organic.

Little Brother | Waikato, New Zealand.

Little Brother is the stage name of solo performer Dan Brunskill. Dan's inspiration and song style is reminiscent of Ben Howard, Glen Hansard and The Staves. Little Brother regularly plays gigs around Auckland and Hamilton. You can usually find Dan in some bar playing his songs to twelve or so people.

Holly Baar | Hamilton, New Zealand.

Simon Liddy | Cambridge, New Zealand.

Here is a fine man in the making. His full name withheld due to HGD (Hug-a-Ginga-Day) knowing full well what happens when those deranged ‘huggers’ find out where you live. Gutairst, ex-Wellintoning hipster, avid longboarder and possessor of the MC1R mutant gene – we all wish for a togan ginga friend this good.
